Etymology:
"Named after Sofya Kovalevskaya (1850−1891), a mathematician. Sofya Kovalevskaya was the first woman in the world to obtain a doctorate in mathematics (from the University of Gőttingen), and the first woman to be appointed a full professor in northern Europe (at Stockholm University). The Cauchy-Kovalevskaya theorem for analytical partial differential equations takes her name."
