  • Etymology: "Named after Dorothy Mary Crowfoot Hodgkin (1910−1994), a British chemist, whose research advanced the technique of X-ray crystallography to determine the 3-dimensional structure of biomolecules. Among her many discoveries were the confirmation of the structure of penicillin, and the structure of vitamin B12, for which she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry."
