Marasmiaceae
Marasmius equicrinis F.Muell. ex Berk. , nom. illeg., scientific
Berkeley, M.J. (1881), Australian fungi - II. Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society 18: 383 BHL [tax. nov.]
  • Type: "[Australia]: [Queensland] Dalrymple Creek (Lieut. Armitage); [New South Wales] Richmond River (Mrs. Armitage); and in various places, but seldom producing pilei."
  • Comment: Berkeley states "see 'Grevillea,' vol. viii. p. 153, where it is called M. crinis equi. I, however, follow the original name of Mueller". Therefore, the name M. equicrinis F.Muell. ex Berk is illegitimate under Art. 52.1 because Berkeley definitely includes the type of the name M. crinis-equi F.Muell. ex Kalchbr., by citing the name itself (as explained by Art. 52.2). The name is also illegitimate under Art. 53.1 as it is a homonym of M. equicrinis F.Muell. The two names M. equicrinis F.Muell. and M. equicrinis F.Muell. ex Berk. cannot be regarded as isonyms as the type citations differ. [T.W. May, 28 Dec. 2023]
